PT-141 Injection

Rx
Desire, restored — without hormones.
From

PT-141 (bremelanotide) is a melanocortin-based therapy that supports sexual desire and arousal by acting directly on the brain's pathways — not on blood flow or hormones. It is an option for women experiencing low libido or hypoactive sexual desire, including the dip in desire that can accompany perimenopause and menopause. Bremelanotide is the same active ingredient as Vyleesi®. Delivered as a discreet, on-demand subcutaneous injection, it is taken ahead of intimacy to help restore desire, responsiveness, and confidence.

Key Features

Targets desire at the source: PT-141 activates melanocortin receptors in the brain to increase sexual desire and arousal — addressing low libido at its central, neurological root.

Non-hormonal: It works independently of estrogen and testosterone, making it an option for women who cannot or prefer not to use hormonal therapy.

Studied for premenopausal HSDD: Bremelanotide is studied for hypoactive sexual desire disorder in premenopausal women, and is used to support desire through perimenopause and menopause.

On-demand dosing: Used as needed ahead of intimacy rather than daily.

Discreet, self-administered format: A small subcutaneous injection that is simple to self-administer at home.

Common questions, answered.

What is PT-141 and how does it work? (Women's PT-141)

PT-141 (bremelanotide) is a melanocortin-receptor agonist that supports sexual desire and arousal by acting on pathways in the brain — not on hormones or blood flow. It is the same active ingredient as Vyleesi®.

Is PT-141 hormonal? (Women's PT-141)

No. PT-141 is non-hormonal — it works independently of estrogen and testosterone. That makes it an option for women who cannot or prefer not to use hormonal therapy.

How do I take PT-141? (Women's PT-141)

PT-141 is a small subcutaneous injection you self-administer about 45 minutes before anticipated intimacy. It is used on-demand rather than daily. Do not use more than one dose in 24 hours or more than eight doses per month.

What are the side effects of PT-141? (Women's PT-141)

The most common side effect is nausea, especially with the first few doses. Others include flushing, headache, and injection-site reactions. PT-141 also causes a temporary rise in blood pressure and a brief drop in heart rate. Frequent use can occasionally cause darkening of the skin. It should not be used during pregnancy.

Who is PT-141 right for? (Women's PT-141)

PT-141 is studied for premenopausal women with hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD) and is also used to support desire through perimenopause and menopause. It isn't appropriate for women with uncontrolled high blood pressure or known cardiovascular disease, or during pregnancy. A U.S.-licensed clinician reviews your intake to determine whether it is right for you.
